Example: Completed Fiduciary Anchor

Fictional example (not a construction document). Show the expected quality standard. Student: Kría, 18 years old, plumbing apprentice. Project: underfloor heating loop in a 6 m² bathroom. The machine generated a drawing with pipe spacing, flow rate, and a bill of materials.

1. Comparison with the Human Anchor

In Step 1, I mentioned that the most dangerous issues would be air in the system and incorrect pipe spacing causing cold spots. The machine mentioned pipe spacing but did not mention air venting, the first sign that it thinks about drawing, not operation.

2. Honest Oracle — Verification

  • Hallucinated regulation: The machine referred to "article 14.3.2 on underfloor heating" with a specific maximum temperature. I looked it up in the current building regulations: that article number and the figure did not match what the machine said. Hallucination. I will use what the regulation actually says, not the figure from the machine.
  • Unsourced figure: Pipe spacing of "150 mm everywhere" was presented without a source. The manufacturer data I found shows that the spacing should be denser near external walls; the machine gave one spacing for the entire space.
  • Foreign assumption: The bill of materials specified a manifold of a type I could not find with domestic suppliers. Needs to be replaced with what is available here.

3. Where Does the Responsibility Lie?

ItemCorrect / incorrect / unverifiedPrimary sourceWho is responsible
Max floor temperatureIncorrect as stated by machineBuilding regulations (lookup)Me, upon signing
Pipe spacing 150 mm everywhereUnverified/incorrectManufacturer dataMe
Manifold (type)Not available domesticallySuppliers in IcelandMe

(Fill-in template table)

Conclusion: if I built exactly according to the machine's drawing, I would get cold spots by the external wall, incorrect temperature control, and materials that are unavailable. An inspector would make an objection, and the responsibility would be mine, not the machine's.

4. Rejection

  1. "Article 14.3.2" + max temperature — rejected: hallucinated reference, does not pass lookup.
  2. Single pipe spacing for the entire space — rejected: causes cold spots by the external wall.

5. Professional Accountability Statement

I have verified the flow rate and pump size against manufacturer data and they are correct. I verified and corrected the maximum temperature and pipe spacing according to regulations and the manufacturer. I could not source the manifold domestically and would not order it without supplier confirmation. I bear responsibility for what I let stand, and I cannot blame the design software if the floor heats unevenly.
